Gardener's World

By pmg

Well, that certainly got a response!
I, like some of you, can remember the days of Geoff Hamilton. In fact, it was he that inspired me to garden. Sadly, he can’t be brought back to present Gardener’s World. Alan Titchmarsh did a good job stepping into his shoes and I thought his enthusiasm was infectious(sp?). Whether it is because that we, as gardening fanatics, are too clever for our own boots, or the BBC think that the public deserves less for their ever increasing licence, there is no doubt in my mind that the present format of Gardener’s World is just a grown-up version of Blue Peter.

I agree that Carol should have taken the job after Monty – but maybe she could see the way the BBC wanted to take programme.

Anyway, food for thought. Isn’t it good to have good, honest debate?

This has generated a lot of good comment pmg. I dont like Carol personally, but she is a good presenter. what about chris beardshaw coming back. he is knowledgeable and easy on the eye if you know what I mean :o) but the bbc will do what they want no matter what we ask for.

Chris Beardshaw is brilliant! - and far too wise to tie himself to the BBC! I think the problem is all about the 'dumming down' syndrome that affects us in every walk of life. Carol's enthusiasm can be a little irritating but she, along with Chris, certainly knows her stuff!

Anyone interested in keeping up to date with shows of interest to gardeners on the main TV channels, I list these every Saturday or Sunday on my blog #21. :o)
