This looks like a trailing variety. Looks good alongside the purple sage.

Yes, the colours really work well together and it is at the base of the Trachycarpus you admired in my side garden.

I have always had rosemary growing in my garden as I use it so often in cooking. I love the smell of the plant and the flavour it adds to recipes.
Uses, lamb and oily foods eg fish. Convulsant in large quantities.

Rosemary is one of the oldest Mediterranean aromatic shrubs in cultivation. It is still regarded as an essential culinary and medicinal herb, with an invigorating spicy flavour. As a specimen garden plant it is handsome and impressive at all times, especially when covered with its lovely flowers that attract bees and butterflies. Plant against a warm wall to help it to gain extra height, and preferably in a position where it is brushed in passing to release its lingering scent. To keep plants in shape, trim after flowering.
Planted Jan 2008 in herb garden
I have one which is growing into a big gnarly old monster. I cut it back a bit to keep within some kind of order but don't do much to it. I used to have two but I got rather sick of being on rosemary beetle patrol so I took out the one which had been the most decimated by them.
Now I just keep an eye on this one - if I see any of the shiny buggers I give them short shrift. I'm a very live and let live gardener normally but the beetles are relatively new and don't have predators here - I'm just keeping the numbers down.

This is lovely. I have never seen Rosemary come to flower like that, weel worth leaving them to flower by the looks of that.
