Excellent pic., I'm going to run outside and see if mine are poking through the soil yet.

Don't they turn blue as they age...or is it ...turn pink as they age???
anyway.... don't they change colour? lol. Or maybe they've found a little patch that is alkyline... like Hydrangeas...pink or Alky....blue on Acid soil?

Hi Lori, It's usually pink buds that turn blue as they open. BUT in some cases the whole plant has pink buds that stay pink ! On this particular plant, only this one stem had all pink flowers ! It's crazy. I don't think it has to do with alkyline since both colors can be on one plant. And an all pink plant can be right next to an all blue plant. And then some pink flowers can have tints of blue in them. And then there's the all white plants. Just different colors I guess.

Members' notes...
We have a colony of Virginia Bluebells growing wild in our back woods. I've transplanted a few to the yard and now I have many colonies thriving there. It's a native perennial to Ohio, and is another favorite spring wildflower of mine. The delicate flowers remind me of little girls' petticoats. Some times a clump will produce all pink blooms, and there have even been pure white ones found in the wild. Most of the times the buds are pink and they turn blue as they open. It is also called Lungwort, Virginia Cowslip or Hokoh Bluebells. They like wet, shade, clearings and at edges of deciduous woods. I like them between hostas because the plant completely fades away by summer.
