me too - i have a baby one its actually a type of Mahonia and mine is taking ages to grow. i think it is very pretty!

You are quite right to say it can become evasive. A friend of mine has it growing in one one of her shrub borders. I think they are all self set from seed from a very fertile parent plant in the next door neighbours garden. Once they geyt their roots intertwined with the main border shrubs they are very difficult to clean out. I do love their heady scent.

4 shrubs planted in 2005. Growing slowly but surely. Flowers ready for Spring 2008. Pretty winter leaves.

This plant was in my garden when I moved in 26 years ago and still going strong. Beautiful scented yellow flowwers in the late winter. Nice glossy dark green leaves. The whole shrub gives stability to the garden. Easily kept in shape by judicious pruning. Suffers from white fly in the summer sometimes.
