Will Creeping Jenny accept being planted in a basket on a pond shelf 8" below water surface?

Yes your right Maple would much prefer trailing over edge of pond to being immersed in it .At 8" depth would need to float on surface try water hawthorn or water forget -me - not.If you havent already.

This is groundcover for my back garden, but I like the way you have it trailing out of your pots. I may steal your idea for next year.

Lol
Yesterday I had fun in Woolworths; they have reduced many of their garden items (to make space for Hallowe'en or Christmas stock I suspect). I found solar powered lights, Growmore, fibre pots and a 'Paint your own' Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit (yes, I know they are intended for children but I am a big kid at heart). I think he will have to go in the veg patch somewhere.

I acquired the form with yellow-green leaves when it grew under the fence from next door. It is now in a raised pot with a small dark phormium and cascades down the sides

A vigorous trailing plant with prostrate stems of golden leaves with single bright yellow flowers. Dense growth means it can be used as part of a scheme or on its own.
Position: full sun
For best results transplant plugs immediately into chosen container using multi-purpose compost. Plugs will benefit from early transplanting.
Should transplanting be delayed open top of container and place in a light position avoiding direct sunlight.
Do not allow to dry out. Add the gel supplied in the punnet to the compost to assist water retention.
The plants will require a warm windowsill with good natural light for growing on.
Established plants can be placed outside when all risk of frost has passed.on

I'm no expert on this but I think Creeping Jenny will tolerate bog conditions but not underwater planting. It is fairly invasive in all it's planting situations so go careful.
