Foamy substance has appeared on the Arizona Sun variety. What is it and how do I get rid of it? I'm located in the Northwest.

Cuckoo spit is most likely. If you look insdie you will see a tiny greeni nsect. Removal is easy, either wipe off with your fingers and squish the bug or wash of with a jet of water and watch the thing die of sunburn.
On question - foamy substance on Gaillardia

Thanks Martha. Delighted to know that you visited Hungary and enjoyed it. We think Budapest is one of Europes best kept secrets, it's such a beautiful city.

Thanks Greenfingers. From what I see on this site there are lots of people who have an amazing collection of plants. I often wish that I had some of the ones that others have too, I guess this site sets up wants in all of us.

Good perrenial. Flowers all summer except in extreme heat.
March 26th 2008 seeds sown indoors (saved from garden)
Old gaillardia looking very tired and one has given up, so on 5th July bought 2 new ones, much darker than Arizona, not sure of name yet, one in yellow bed and 1 next to path in back garden in front of red rose. There is also a youg one growing in yellow bed and some more in pot from seed.
Plan to put them in mulberry brd to make a bit of a Gaillardia show down there.
