Hi Chris, it looks healthy but all my heathers are small. I don't know about the soil but there's lots of open land around here and I see quite a lot of heathers growing naturally when I'm out and about. Mine were planted as part of the garden facelift last March.

Winter flowering heather. Tolerates alkaline soil if well drained, Prefers an open position. Water well in dry weather. Dress soil with peat-type mix in spring.

very healthy looking heather. You must have acid soil. We garden on sand and heather hates it here.
