The flowers are much smaller than the normal varieties they are probably a fith of the normal size flower. As you can see, the Bee would normally just walk straight in.

Planted w border rear garden dark patch Jun 08.
Very dense candles of small bronzy-red flowers July - Sept on fairly dense, thin, slightly curled green foliage.
Ful sun or part shade with free draining soil or compost. Hardy if protected from worst frosts.
H: 60 cm, S: 30 cm.
Excellent mid-border plant.

I've never seen a chocolate Foxglove.
