That was hard Gardengnome. We don't get squirrels in our garden so the bulbs are safe from them. My sister has a problem with them in UK.

Aw well when I plant more this year, I'll take measures (chicken wire over the site) to keep a few for myself. No measure is actually squirrel proof but this one will leave me with a few more bulbs.

Members' notes...
Top fence
Planted horizontal type in 2005 in bed under Mulberry tree.. Grew very fast. Too big so moved it to bank at side of house in autumn 2007. Not sure if it all survived. Waiting for Spring to see.
Most of the plant came back in the Spring and is growing steadily. Had flowers and wll have berries this year (2008).
Cuttings of half-ripe wood with a heel, July/August in a frame[11, 200]. Cuttings of mature wood of the current year's growth, preferably with a heel, November in a frame.
I am assuming what I have is C. horizontalis. The reason I'm not sure is that the ones I have are self-seeded from a neighbour's garden. I'm growing them up against a semi-shaded garden wall.
Berries attract robins.

I planted a "million" tulip bulbs and the ground squirrels got 999,999 of them and on top of that the one they left never bloomed!
