Hi Andrew, This is an interesting Clematis... I have seen "Stolwijk's Gold" in a catalogue and the flower is much the same but the foliage is a golden colour... I'm wondering (since my climate is rather extreme) if the combinations it took to get the yellow foliage are as hardy as I need? perhaps I should be looking for 'Frances Rivis'? I'm in N.A., zone 5 (USDA) I really like this flower form.

Thanks - I researched carefully to get a really purple one so I hoped it would look like this! I'm really pleased with it. I've been out every morning hoping the buds would open...sad, aren't I.

I wonder if Jacqueline du Pre knew she had a beautiful Clematis named after her before she died - or was it a memorial? I'll have to try googling to find out!

Now! I took the photo yesterday. Another good thing - as it is a C. alpina, it does not need pruning (unless just to tidy it).
