I have two young acers - 3-4 yeras, planted out 2 months ago and are now wilting badly - very clay soil, but alot of compost - is this too much or too little water or something else?

Coming from the country of the Maple Leaf...I wonder how this variety will do in our Canadian climate? I have seen them here but they are newly planted and not very large trees by comparison. Anyone out there with experience of these? Very pleasing appearance.

I've been amazed by its rapid growth. There's a line on the wall about 18 inches high which marks where the original ground level of the pigsty that was once located in this corner upon arrival. A real 'muddywellies' job that was!

I have this one in my back garden. The leaves really are beautiful and it never fails to get commented on when someone comes into the garden.

I love the colour and shape of the leaves and the way they dance in a gentle breeze. My Mum gave me a two year old tree for my birthday two years ago. I planted it so that I can see it from the kitchen and lounge windows, it has doubled in height since then.

Beautiful, bright and fast growing too! Four more years and the trunk should be about 2 inches thick. I have one that illuminates a dark corner in summer. Love it!

Great news Muddywellies, I hope this one is fast growing too. Our light sandy soil does tend to slow things up a bit here.

Have you watered them each week? They will need that if the weather has been dry. Otherwise, I am wondering how exposed they are. Has it been windy? They tend to suffer in windy conditions, especially if you are near the coast.
New tree planted summer 2007. Watered like crazy in heat. Has healthy looking buds for Spring 2008.
2 year old sapling planted '03,
