I think I was using the past tense as my visit to the garden was in the past. Any experts on grammar out there, or is that opening a can of worms that ought to stay shut?

Hello Littledove,
Yes the bark is always peeling but more marked at this time of year,a great feature in the garden before other plants have come into growth.It is a slow growing tree,mine is about 8 years old and is 8ft tall,and reaches 30ft.

I love it, is the bark always like that or different depending on season? I have just planted a slow gum tree, I fell in love with it's bark and I've fallen in love yet again :)
