I have this as a hanging basket; just saw them around this spring. They are marketed as 'Chenille Plant' over here! How amazing it would be to be able to grow them outside year round. They don't really overwinter well here, indoors, as they love the full sun.....

Hi Delonix, I just took this pic yesterday. We have local formal garden that I like to go visit and this was one of the plants they didn't have marked. So thank you for identifying it. It is a pretty plant. :)

I would say it was around 5 ft tall give or take. They had another plant right next to it that was very similar, but had mottled leaves. Maybe a different variety? I haven't posted the pic of it yet.

Gardengem,

Thanks for posting the information.

I've always grown Acalypha species...they are one of my favorite plants.

The mottled leaf Acalypha was probably the species, wilkesiana. Acalypha wilkesiana has many variegated varieties. It is the most widely grown species of Acalypha grown in Southern California.

I know this one too, had several in my garden. The green ants loved them too and often made nests in them. They went a bit floppy and autumny like with brown leaves in winter, but came back as bright as a button again in spring.
