Since Dad died..I have had a bluetit come and sit right outside the backdoor. THen another comes along and hey chatter to each other. I think they are maybe nesting in the box I have on the wall next to door. :)
As they are quite timid I darent move to get my camera as they fly away at any movement. This morning I had my phone camera on waiting and wasnt dissappointed. They arent brilliant pics but they move so quickly! Only caught the one. :)))))))

Hope you get to see the babies,if they are nesting in your box,Pixi..I thoght mine were going to nest in my box again ,but looks like 'mum' changed her mind,.not seen them going in or out for a while now..They have been doing some repairs and building work ,on the Bowling Green wall, directly above the nest,so I fear all the activity and noise has put them off..grr !
They are still coming to the feeders though..and remember the Sparrow Family ? ..they are back ! Lol.

good pics, blue tits are very difficult to photograph so you have done well;-) we have got some going in our nest boxes but my cats always manage to scare them away:-(

13 Apr, 2012

Well I'm just hoping Suki doesnt do that..but its her garden too..I'm sure they can all live happily ever after :)

13 Apr, 2012

I hope so Pixi. great photos. We sat and watched a brood leave the nest in one of our boxes for hours one morning a couple of years back. The parents would put some humans to shame they were so attentive. I do hope they use the nest.

Well they are still bulding it anyway ..was watching them at 7am..busy little bees :) Love to watch them :)

15 Apr, 2012

15 Apr, 2012

:) My favourite birds

15 Apr, 2012

not sure which is my favourite, i do like oyster catchers, love puffins, but do not like cuckoos!!!

15 Apr, 2012

It sounds as if they are definitely going to be having a brood. They can have up to sixteen babies at a time. Just as well pa blue tit helps out. Ours had eleven that time. Its inspiring watching them.

15 Apr, 2012

Wow then do they all live in the box??????????

15 Apr, 2012

You might have to build an extension,Pixi..:o))

Yes until they come out to fly for the first time. I don't think they go in again after that. We were in kinks at the first one Big brave boy? /girl. Its mother tempted it to come out a bit and just held the food away far enough so that it could not get it. It got itself on to the rim and tried to fly away but panicked and held on with one claw. Never again will anyone persuade me that these wee things don't know fear. It managed to get itself back on the rim and then with a bit of fluttering by mum and dad who had also returned with food for the babies it took off and landed on a branch doing a somersault before righting itself again. The parents were in and out as regular as clockwork at ten minute intervals over the next four hours by which time all 11 babies were out. They continued to feed the ones which came out earlier but gradually they started to feed themselves on the tree. The parents are good housewives too. They bring food and when they go hunting again they bring out the poo pellets and drop them well away from the nest. Thank goodness I'm retired I would not have time for them if I was still working.

lol Yeah Bloomer!
Awb well I hope I get to see all that too ..need to set up a camera somehow maybe. Thats great to ahve witnessed all that :)))

15 Apr, 2012

I hope you see at least some of it Pixi.

15 Apr, 2012

Yes me too. Its hard to take a pic as the box is right outside the backdoor on the wall..have to think of something! :)

16 Apr, 2012

Lidl or Aldi had bird boxes with cameras. I would imagine they will all have gone by now, but put one on your wish list, they had them last year too so will very likely have them again. I think they send photos to either your computer or your tv. Your very own 'bird watch' Its either that or live in a tent in full view of the box while it is all happening lol.

16 Apr, 2012

Oh my goodness really? THats fantastic! Must get one for next year ..will look out for them! :))))))

16 Apr, 2012

Well what a well behaved little bird, we have them nesting in a box on the fence but I have never managed to get a picture as they never seem to be still.
