Foliage variations2

Foliage variations2 (Acer platanoides 'Drummondii')

This is the second in my series of 'foliage variations' designed to focus upon the benefits and uses of particular foliage. In this case I've used this Acer to illuminate and add interest to a dark corner of my car park. We usually think of acers as slow-growing, but this generally applies to the Japanese types. This variegated tree has a Norwegian heritage and is just over four years old.

Coming from the country of the Maple Leaf...I wonder how this variety will do in our Canadian climate? I have seen them here but they are newly planted and not very large trees by comparison. Anyone out there with experience of these? Very pleasing appearance.

I've been amazed by its rapid growth. There's a line on the wall about 18 inches high which marks where the original ground level of the pigsty that was once located in this corner upon arrival. A real 'muddywellies' job that was!
