Yep I'm sure its a Rhus. Branches slightly hairy like a deers antlers. Fantastic leaves in the summer that turn a lovely orange/red in the autumn/fall.

Yes, it is known as staghorn sumac here. The birds love to eat the berries on the "horns".

Be very vigilant with this plant, whilst it is looking gorgeous on top it is taking over your garden at root level, look for little Sumachs (Rhus/Deer Antlers) popping up over your garden. If you want to keep a few leave them to grow, but don't be worried about pulling up any that you don't want

Andrea's right, Harli. The Rhus has beautiful leaves in spring and summer and the autumn show is gorgeous. But these trees have a suckering habit and you'll find their babies popping up all over the place - even through your lawn if you have one. They're easily yanked out though and the tree's well worth keeping for its long season of interest.

Thank you Mack for the heads up. I will have to research these so I will know what to look for when it starts to grow elsewhere.
