Stachyurus 'Magpie'
This one needs coddling!
These are the flowers which I would describe as a cross between hazel and wisteria in form. They hang stiffly. This variety has variegated leaves and is a weak grower. I was advised the way to get it established is to grow it in a large pot, bringing it under cover for winter, for the first few years. Then, when it's absolutely figting to get out of the pot, plant it in a sheltered, sunny part of the garden and feed it well. It's surviving rather than flourishing but it's hanging on in there.

A small bunch of grapes maybe. I'd say the raecemes are about four inches long

How big are those flowers? They look as big as bunches of grapes, but I'm guessing they're not!
