Didn't spot it at first but like the inversion...most often in a garden the small sitting area is stones set into the greater lawn...this is the opposite. and now that I see it, it's good sense...even I could keep a lawn that size!lol. Imagine just three foot circular lawn pockets! You could cut it with shears (and knee pads of course).
