One of Many ...Sunflowers.

Thanks to the birds and squirrels...you will find sunflowers popping up in many parts of my garden...tallest this year was only 8 feet.

The only thing better than a sunflower in your garden...is a field full of them all turning their heads to the sun like soldiers passing the royal box!! lol. I have some small red ones... very deep maroon. but the birds like the tall ones..and put on acrobatic displays. another good reason to plant them.

A second thought... I planted Mexican sunflowers in my mother's garden 20 odd years ago... they have smaller orangey flowers but grow as tall as regular sunflowers...wonderful plants for the very back of a border...their botanical name is Tithonia...maybe worth a try if you have an area in the back that you're not going to be doing much with.(Jacque?)
