Honesty is a good source of nectar for insects. It is actually a biennial, the foliage forming in the first year and the purple flowers the next. Our children, like us when we were young, use the seed cases as play coins. Honesty is also known as the Money Plant. I read recently that, in Italy, it is known as monata del Papa (the Pope's money). Perhaps because of the seed cases' white colour? Gr8 name!

Yeah, and what a pity we can't use these "coins" to pay for those purchases either!

I've heard it said that once you have 'Honesty' growing in your garden, you;ll have it for ever - hope it's true because I like it!

I would say that this is true. It's another of the plants which came with the garden when we obtained it, but it doesn't seem to spread rampantly like others. Mostly, they grow behind the greenhouse. I wait to see which ones are developing flower stems, then transplant these to fill in empty spaces. A quick and free solution. Also, of course, the seed cases are great for indoor winter vase displays.
