I've learned to bring my camera out with me when I go out to work in the garden.

Hi Lori, This is one of several Butterfly Bushes that I have. The blooms on this particular one are quite large.

Sorry, I think Viceroy are orange, like Monarch? Maybe a swallowtail? Nice shot though! I have managed to kill two buddleah so far by transplanting them. Hopefully I will get another this year. Poor bush!!

Thank you Grammazoo and Lori. I assumed that it was a Monarch. I need to brush up on my butterflies. I see these in my garden frequently in the summer and I love butterfly bushes. I have six different colors including a yellow one that I put in last year. They get quite tall and i love the way they sway in the breeze.

I think the butterfly and buddleia are both beautiful, great photo. I used to have buddleias in my garden but got rid of them because they seemed to go very leggy. Now I'm regretting it! Maybe a trip to the garden centre is called for..........!

This is such a perfect picture. It is difficult to get a photo of a butterfly with its wings opened like this. I've tried many times, but by the time the camera snaps, the wings are closed.

This is a male Tiger Swallowtail. Nice pic. My buddleas get sorrier and sorrier every year. No growth ever survives the winter so all new has to come up. I have 7 or 8 of them and all seem to be struggling. Mike you're farther north than I am and you don't have any problems with them?
From the looks of this one they do fine.
