looks fine to me Jac, maybe it's just a late flowering one - mind you the weather has thrown all sorts out of sink anyway. - i have some of these but the bed i had planned to put them in is not ready so they are in pots at mo and not fairing to well. will have to get Jay on the case! lol

You are right to have it in semi-shade. It does look like a H.niger and yes, it's late, but so what? Enjoy it. It looks very healthy!
