It was a Barn Owl BB , we went round the side of the field to see if it would land again but it didn,t , anyway it dosn,t matter if you did cheat getting your photo you did the hard work of luring it there .. LOL ..

Thanks Amy....suffered for waiting though.Only out five minutes or so and fingers went blue lol..bitterly cold here all day.The owl may reappear at some stage as quite terratorial. Is it near where you live ?

Aww BB, beautiful. She has gone to my Fav's. I love the wrens, so tiny! So she will return now if she knows meal worms are available?

Amy: What an amazing sight that must have been, I guess they are HUGE! Hope you get to see it again now your know where it is likely to be.

Yes Dawn...two days in a row have seen her go in for them, and come out looking smug !lol.So they will be put in every day, twice a day....more work !

so pleased she has found them BB, hope ours find mine. With all this cold weather it must make such a difference as they are so tiny.

Yes BB I did wonder about that because it was only just up the road , at the side of the slip road coming off the motor way .. I will keep my eyes open that way from now on !

The Barn Owl isn,t as big as you would expect Dawn , , I,ve looked in my lovely new BTO Garden Birds and Wildlife Book it does say that breeding pairs will stay in there local areas so I will keep looking . .........

Lovely pic, BB. Was it you who suggested soaking dried mealworms before feeding to the birds. I bought a packet - don't often buy them as they are so expensive but these were on special offer! Haven't used them yet.

9 Feb, 2009

wow well done Dawnsaunt, you really did get a bargain

9 Feb, 2009

Thanks Gee....best to add warm water to the dried mealworms to soften them..this makes them more attractive apparently.Ration ours as like you say are not cheap We got some on offer at Wilkos recently .
Yes Eileen she did !! lol

Hello Everyone, hope you get the book cheaper than the retail price of £20 (sorry BB). As I say, was quite easy to purchase from Amazon for £8 with FREE delivery, we like free!

11 Feb, 2009

Thanks Dawn : - ( will demand a lot more notice in future.Still think the BTO wil be happy with the extra money.
