Wonderful looking plant. And about to go into bloom. Seeing your spring come on in the southern hemisphere is such a joy!

There are 4 plants in the pot, hope they will blossom together :) so far, just 2

Hey JustJan, mine is also facing the afternoon sun, under temperatures ranging from -5°C (winter) to 36°C (summer), the main difference is your balcony wall seems to be an open one, and mine is closed till 1.20m high, the plant is kept on shadow besides the high temperatures.
In other hand I never tried to grow orchids thinking it wouldnt survive, and now seing yours I might give it a chance :)

Hey, you shd try growing orchids. You don't need a green thumb to do that. :) And they bloom so frequently. One year at least 3-4 times, lasting min 2 weeks. Sometimes, after one dies off, you 'll be thrilled to see little buds for the next bloom.
In Spore, it's summer throughout between 26'C (night) to 39'C.

Ok, any suggestion of a very strong type??? lol!!!
tried for fucsias and failed miserably... :( oh well

Personally, I find mokara quite easy to look after. They tough survivors. If your balcony is semi-shaded, you can grow phalaenopsis too. Just water once a week. I find phalaenopsis very classy..the bloom last a long time too. But no direct sunlight. Can plant indoors too.
