I did take the photo for Big Dave...he was ill at the time and was having a hard time using the camera that I now use...he asked me to take the picture for him, which I did..he loved it and sent it out to all of his friends on his computer....it was football season at the time and he told everyone tey were saying..."How about those Sea Hawks!" That is the name of our Football team in Seattle.

How lucky you are to have these around the neighbourhood! I have only once caught a glimpse of bald eagles here, and have only seen them in captivity otherwise.

I'm in awe !!!!

They are fun to watch but deadly to small animals..such a dogs and cats..
one nest that was taken down had 40 dog collars in it.
Those baby eagles were hungry...and a lot of pet owners lost a lot of very well loved pets. I have a friend with a chi-ua-ua..that little guy has never been outside alone at my house...

40 collars ??? They were hungry !
For every plus there is a negative though isn't there Cat ? It's wonderful to see these creatures in picures on on TV, but if it's happening in your back yard you see a different side of the coin. Mama Nature in the raw !

Yes that is for sure..you have to learn how to live with predators in your own back yard..and we have moved here, this is their area..we have to be intelligent enough to realize that we need to be protective of certain lives we cherish. The eagles are doing what is natural to them..I have a dog whose ancestors lived wild in Africa..I saw her kill a rat..it was like nothing I have ever witnessed a dog do before..the kill was instantaneous..but the noise she made when she did it, is what stayed with me..a sound so ancient..it stirred my blood.
These creatures are beautiful to see in the wild..I respect them greatly for the ability to survive in this world, never eating more than they need, not holding grudges only protecting their own...they are all going to feed themselves and their families the only way they can and as we do often we take the easiest thing that is available...mince off the shelf in the grocery, already prepared roasted chicken..etc...lol...I would like to be more of a vegetarian..really..but do need the protein so I still eat meat proteins..and do not begrudge our animal friends the same...
