Calliandra surinamensis - Surinam Powder Puff (Calliandra surinamensis)

This is a fantastic flowering shrub or tree. It grows in San Diego very well because of its drought tolerance. It start blooming in fall through early spring.

I've looked this up.
Apparently the name comes from the pink powder puff flowers.
