The Elaeagnus x ebbingei 'Limelight' provides a brilliant background for the subject of this photo - the buds on the magnolia. This is one of my hoard from a nursery that had shut down. It was a miserable, vine weevil riddled twig when I re-potted it in 2006. I planted it out in February 2007 and was rewarded with a single bloom. Whilst working in the garden at the end of November 2007 I noticed these buds.
