Thanks all, this is on the way to our mini woodland and start of the fernery, the dead branches are our lovely Acer, left, hoping that they might miraclulously recover! however it looks as if that is not going to happen!!

The right side branch seems ok. Perhaps it will grow make some fresh growth eventually from lower down on the left?
