I had a few of these and they've gone to seed now, so hopefully will return in greater numbers next year. The area behind my greenhouse is my official 'messy wild area' and I like to grow stuff there that the bees love. Borage is another real gift for them Lori, as are the flowers of Heucheras.

It’s called scorpion weed. My husband managed to mow off all the seed heads of them the other day! Grr.....

Which is the object of your ire, Amsterdam? Your hubby or the Phacelia? lol... I have so much room and like to find plants that can be planted in drifts which benefit the bees.

I think my husband sometimes deliberately hacks some plants with the lawn mower in the hope that I resort to mowing the lawns myself without decapitating the overhanging plants!
