What a marvellous mixture of leaves. Love the logs and stones as well!

The variegated ginger deserves a pitch of its own - striking.

I agree Ams, that is really stunning and can you use the leaves or just the root?

Beautiful mixture of color so healthy looking.
You must be exhausted from all that watering flcrazy! Has your drought broken yet?

Thanks for the nice comments !
Polyannaever, I wish I could say it has, but we haven't had rain for a week and a half now, and the forecast isn't calling for rain until next Thursday, and it's only a 30 % chance of rain then .It's all just a part of gardening, (not the fun part), you just learn to deal with it...lol.

Beautiful...and I love the caladiums!!

11 Aug, 2008

Which are caladiums, Please?

11 Aug, 2008

Sorry, there aren't any caladiums in this pic, they are both colocasia plants.

Janey ,I'm afraid I can't answer your question on this ginger with any certainty. Marguerite would know alot more about them than I do. She has a pic of these in her garden, that by the way, look the way they are meant to look, grown in the ground year round. I'm sure she could answer your question about the roots and leaves. I only know that Zingiber officinale in the most commonly grown ginger root, that's edible.

I go through pics like a crayfish...backwards... I made the remark about caladiums and corrected myself on the next pic..lol. Sorry about that..good eye Celandine.

PS, Now, i want them now, There Great Flcrazy ...Dee..

I wish you didn't live almost half the world away Dee, cause I'd love to be able to give you some, I was told earlier in a post by someone, that customs wouldn't allow me to exchange plants with someone in a different country...bummer ! I'm sure you will be able to find them there anyway, your country always seems to have the newest plants in circulation a couple of years before we do. Oh, by the way, let me ask a favor of you, please don't show me up too bad when you get them !....lol.

Thanks Shoobyshar, I leave alot of my tender and tropical plants in pots. It's easier to bring them in for winter storage. It saves my back from doing alot of extra digging. So I use logs, rocks, mulch, and goundcovers, to hide the pots....lol.
