Our only Trillium native to Hayward..has a brown flower. Not the most exotic looking.

The brachts are the most attractive thing about them? The red trilliums are a deep wine red..which is probably akin to your browns. what looks like little green sticks behind the trilliums is the lily of the valley mound.

Its still impressive to me that I'm looking at real orchids a few blocks from home. And of course if they looked like yours they would have been poached long ago. City life bumping up to wildlands.

Not even a street light here, Stan. Pitch dark at night. I often wonder how city plants survive the lack of darkness. Spring nights are wonderful...the rush of the water in the stream and the sough of the breeze through the pines...and dark deep warm velvet night.
