Look who's been busy in my garden..:))

Beautiful Goldcrest. I couldn't believe my eyes; I've had a really busy afternoon in the garden, and all the time this little bird has been keeping me company. I was sure it was a Wren, then it popped onto the trellis....I had no camera or phone and kept very still, he was so near, and so intent on foraging where I'd tidied. A perfect end to a good afternoon..:))

Now that's lovely Janey and I must tell you that, a couple of days ago, my husband was convinced he saw one but I said it's probably 'our' Wren! Later that day I had to eat my words when I saw the Goldcrest for myself. Never had them in our garden before.

What a coincidence Shirley, such weeny, yet brave little souls they are...apparently they frequent conifer woodland, but probably find our gardens easy pickings?
I haven't seen one before either Shirley, what a treat it was..:))

So tiny Karen, along with the Firecrest. I bet there'll plenty in woodlands around you..
Karen, my camera isn't working, I thought it was maybe the battery was out of charge...so charged it, the camera worked one day, then that was it. Have you had any problems with yours?

What a lovely surprise. I haven't seen one since we lived next door to a tall Leylandii hedge - the only thing in its favour!

Jane...Ai had to replace my battery after a disappointingly short time. When I looked online, several reviews complained about battery life. I bought a new battery from Amazon, a different make. Its been fine since.

Hi Stera...I can't say I've many conifers here, probably the tallest...silver arrow...they do like to nest in ivy though, so I shall keep my eye out in spring...:))
They certainly are Sandra...very very quick and shy like a wren..
Thanks Karen, I'll have a look on Amazon, I hadn't used my camera for quite a while, but overall, I've probably been lucky then with how long it had lasted!
They are Sheila, and really pretty colouring...

Hi Janey

May I ask did you paint that amazing picture ?

I have two pairs that visit the garden everyday they are tiny , I have hidden in the tops of the bay trees fat balls and I have made up out of fat and mixed seed, peanuts , sunflower hearts etc and put in a old mug also hidden in the foliage...
backwards and forwards all day they dont hang around for long quick nibble and out they come again ...

thanks for sharing

Thanks everyone...it was such a treat! I've kept a look out, but haven't seen it since...only the Wren which is getting more bold and not flitting off so quickly as she used to. I'll be gardening again in that same spot this next week, so fingers crossed!

Karen, I've done as you suggested and have two new batteries...all is working well, I really have missed using my camera..:))

Hi Gnarly....oh, no no no, if only! That is a pic out of my bird book.. Now that is exciting, a pair coming to your garden, they are so quick aren't they? And such a joy to see....think I'll hang the bird foods on the trellis and have camera at the ready!

They are Dd, I'm hoping they are feeding and sheltering in this very cold snap. On this eastern side the wind is intolerable..
Oh Amy, you'll probably have different species in your garden, being nearer the coast? I hope you are managing with this shocking weather we are having...Xx
