It will be hungry by the time it reaches the top - not a lot to eat in pebbledash...

this was on plain brick and yes we find them dead inside. they suffocate indoors as they use gills to get their oxygen, and modern houses are less damp.

Sbg, today I found lots of them when I moved pots of Daffs and Iris from the shelter of the house wall to the patio, hate the critters! My daughter always calls them little Armadillos ...

I've clicked 'like' because it's a good pic, but actually these are about the only crawler in the garden which make me shudder. I hate them and if one gets in the house...well, ugh!

I think they are amazing. there a lots of species in Britain. related to crabs and lobsters, do you like them any more? :o)

I am very partial to a plate of crab or lobster, but I will pass on the woodlice!!

I have a recipe from the 1850's where they are eaten in a cheese sauce! sounds disgusting to me. though as a young child I have been made to eat them by one of my brothers. just remember them as being crunchy, no real taste to them perhaps the sauce would have improved them :o)

We were at Grandma's at the time and she allowed us lots of things we weren't 'allowed' It's what Grandma's do, otherwise he might not managed to trick her. He did get a very sore bottom I seem to recall!
