Glad to get the Grass cut.

Glad to get the Grass cut.

A beautiful sunny day here in Essex.Almost springlike but cold now the sun has gone down. I was pleased to give the lawn a light trim as it has been growing like mad through the winter. I managed to dig the veg patch too, as can be seen in my blog!

well done Paul , we had a little grass cutting session at the beginning of the week just a small area ...

The gardeners were out doing our green and verges etc today...it's all grown so much and there are daisies in flower on the green etc.

The very idea of cutting lawns is very strange here. The grass is so wet and it is still cold and very windy.

It has been very mild until today Linda.....and the wind being so strong has dried the ground out a little although it's still wet.

Its looking good Paul. OH cut our front ones yesterday - longest cut and no grassbox - but said the ground still felt rather soggy. The high cut wasn't low enough to cut off the first few celandines so I guess they'll be seeding before they can be topped...

No weeds in flower in my lawn yet..... But managed to cut on 3 rd of 6height settings .

Your garden looks so well kept Paul. Lovely.

Thanks Linda.....can't wait for some drier weather to dig a new border and make some changes to planting as the conditions in the bed nearest the house are too wet for most of my grasses which are rotting!

I managed to do 10 minutes gardening yesterday as I am a bit more mobile now, but found several of my plants had rotted at the roots, so will have to buy a few replacements in the springtime.

IT certainly cheered me up to see it tidier, Rose.

Looking nice and tidy for this time of year Paul! What veggies are you growing this year?

1 Feb, 2016

I didn't have chance to grow anything(only carrots last year) .This year, I intend growing a few French Beans, summer cabbage, a micro variety calabrese(Kabuki) , Sweetcorn, parsnips, beetroot and I have overwintering onions in at the moment. I will grow potatoes in bags and a few in a seperate bed and Tomatoes, Cucumbers Peppers in the greenhouse.

Very satisfying growing your own veg. That sounds like a pretty healthy diet to me Paul, with a nice selection as well. I had my name down for an allotment, waited three years, when one became free and I saw the size of the plot, I "chickened out" and let someone else have it. Shame really as it was only 5 minutes walk from the house. Good luck .... hope you have a good crop!

Oh, what a shame, Alan. Perhaps they would have let you share it with someone in the same postiton as you.
