The dahlias come in such an array of colours & shape but I rarely store the tubers successfully.

It looks lovely Karen pity it is so late.....lots of flower heads still to come out.

Same here, tubers just give up on me. Although I have had some in a wooden barrel and they have survived being kept outdoors for three winters but have never really flowered properly for me. Just an odd bloom or two. Think originally that is why I left them outside they were such a disappointing colour and I was not fussed if they lived or died. My sister-in-laws husband grows beautiful dahlias, amazing colours must get his advice on them. I love the colours that they produce. Just hate that you have to lift them and store them. Wonder why we have not got any that are able to stay in the ground. Think that should be a project for the plant specialists. lol. especially for me being a lazy gardener. Too much else to do.

Some say if you mulch them well they will be ok but mine never have survived - except one white one did once for one year but only for that one year.
I bought some lovely orange cactus ones & duly dug them up after 1st frost, put them under the staging upside down to dry off, then stored them in peat for the winter. When I went to check them they were all mush. I had even doused them with sulphur, so disappointed.

Love the colour of that dahlia K....my OH stores them wrapped in newspaper in a cardboard box in one of the sheds...

Oh, they will all rot for sure. I might relent with this one. Its my favourite now. I like it even more than the Bishop.
