This is the shrub I was wanting to identify, I think it looks a lot stronger and more woody than the one you suggested. It has little black berries and as no perfume

Hi telme8 just googled laurel and it brought up Laurus nobilis which has black berrries and could be that :)
also I have never grown trachelospermum but I do believe it to be a tender climber but other members may be able to help :)
