Centre of the Xanthorrhoea tree (Xanthorrhoea preissii Endl.)

Xanthorrea ( Grass trees ) sometimes die and fall over or break off. Here is a picture of the inner caudex of the grass tree. It is amazing. Each little "petal" can be pulled off individually.

Wow..., that looks so wild ! Never would have guessed it would be hollow on the inside, it looks like a roll of braided rope...lol....simply amazing.
