Ooh, they're lovely ... very exotic looking! Well done Thomas ... :o)

They are so pretty. I used to avoid them because I was afraid they would take over the whole garden. But there are some lovely modern cars that are much better behaved. The inca series are very compact and demure....but not great for cutting as they have short stems. Indian Summer has been tremendous for me this year.

Thanks Shirley..I haven't really taken much notice of these plants till now..but looking at them close up has changed my mind :o)

Thanks Karen..it's strange how we change our opinions on certain plants isn't it? They were never on my 'must have 'list till now..Thanks for the info on those two varieties, that is helpful..I think the Indian Summer ones sound like the ones for me..I see that's what you have in the photo of your Vase of flowers...I like those colours :o)

Love them we grow several varieties, K is correct re the Inca ones, ours have flowered all summer. And how kind of Thomas.

J think it sounds as though the taller stemmed ones will be better for my needs,Angela,as I very rarely cut flowers for indoors, and I want to be able to see them from the window..Thomas was all smiles when he gave them to me,and he now lets me open my card and gifts myself ! ..and without telling me what's inside the wrapping :o)

Ah! You really enjoy Thomas don't you?! Good for you...children grow up so fast! I'm just ordering two more Alstros on Crocus! Lol!

Oh we do,Karen..just glad he is a smiler, not a Whinger ! :o( I have been checking out Altros on google this afternoon..I thought Sarah Ravens one on youtube was really good..and a guy showing growing tips,as well..He suggested they weren't frost hardy though? I'm sure most Goyers plants come through each year..but I stand corrected, if they are susceptible..what are your views on this please..What have you ordered, you little tinker? Lol.x

I never heard of these but I'm going to add it to my shopping list. A big section of my garden was destroyed recently by my neighbor's garage fire so I need to rebuild.

Hi Paul, aren't they lovely? They are something I knew about, but I've only just got interested in them..I was sorry to hear about the fire,I did leave a comment about it on a blog...These plants may just fill some space nicely for you...

Great! They look very cheerful. It's an opportunity to try something new, this may be the answer.

Bloomer...do you remember Louise? Cora? With the little snoopy icon? She was always chastising me for cosseting them and worrying about them. She reckoned they were much hardier than people gave them credit for. And I must say, I haven't lost one yet. I miss her on here, she had so much gardening experience. I bought Neptune (blue) and Saturne (peach) for the cool and hot parts of my raised bed. I would say, give them a protective mulch and they should be ok.

Yes,I do remember Louise.I used to like her too.that is helpful,Karen, thank you.we .always get better advice from people who have experience of growing them, and if they grow well where you are,I should be ok here..I will take your advice about a mulch, when I buy some..Those sound nice colours you have bought..so many to choose from, isn't there? A bit of browsing will be the next stage :o)
