Grape time again

Grape time again

Blackbirds are eating them for breakfast. They are full of pips and too sour for me!

Well, they look great, and the birds will be well fed. In the thumbnail I really thought it was mulberries!

Shirley_t, a week ago a family of young blackbirds stripped our Rowan tree of hundreds of red berries. They were very methodical, starting at the top, working down. If they new there were grapes on offer in West Sussex, I don't think they would have hung around in Cheshire very long! ... lol
Grapes look good, shame about the taste and PIPS! That reminds me many years ago, I listened
to a gardening article on the radio, as to how seedless
grapes were first cultivated .. It was fascinating, but for the life of me I can remember the story. What a great idea, seedless grapes. I will google it and send a link if I find anything.

They look so tempting. Have to make wine with them. Shame to let the birds have them all.

Shirley_t, here is link to a 2 minute video relating to the "seedless grape" story.

I'm sure the birds will appreciate them not being to your taste Shirley. The do look very scrumptious though.

Thanks everyone ... Alan, I watched the video twice, mainly 'cos the first time round I was too intent on the man's lovely voice!

I recall that Dottydaisy made grape juice from her Grapes ... might be worth a try as we're pretty much tee-total!

Now Carole, are we talking your Robin, or your feathered friend?! I made about a litre of Grape juice this afternoon, it's more like a sharp Blackcurrant taste to me though!

Lovely looking fruit, just a shame about the taste Shirley....

Indeed! Michael tried some last night and said it tasted like blackcurrant and apple crumble juice!

Well that can't be too bad?

That sounds very nice Shirley_t. What about on a nice hot day, diluting it with a drop of sparkling water and adding some ice?

My Robin Shirley lol

Alan, I have added some apple juice to it, sweetened it up no end, but I do like your suggestion! :o)

That's alright then Carole ... I was unsure! :o)
