Oak carvings

Oak carvings

In the next village along from where I live are these wonderful carvings to commemorate the Centenary of World War 1. The life-size soldier and horse's head were carved, using a chainsaw, from a 170 year old Oak which fell in the recent Winter storms.

Oh I am pleased you all like it too ladies! If you zoom in for a closer look (press Ctrl and +) you may be able to see the detail on the tunic better ... I admire the talent of the chap who carved these.

That was clever Shirley . . I did Ctrl and + but now what do I do to go back to normal size??! (Ooh, just managed it: turns out hyphen is a 'minus' sign. I've impressed myself, lol!)
