Are they? Well this is just a native lily on the lagoon. And you know, they eat the stalks too!

hmmm... never thought of water lilies as food...make sense now you mention it... a starchy root.

I know they eat them in Bali, but I actually saw these Aboriginal kids dive into that lagoon, fishing them out by the dozens and of course I had to ask what they were going to do with them. Cook them!
