Juncus effusus f. spiralis
The local Horticultural College has now opened its new plant centre. I found this wonderful grass to plant on the stream bank as it enjoys getting its feet wet!

Great, isn't it! I shall call it the curly-wurly grass.

My hair looked a bit like the plant this morning Spritz before I had a haircut but thankfully it was not the same colour! . This is a great grass for sitting near the stream and very unusual.

Very interesting grass. Grenvilles hair sounds like a bad hair day.

I was so seduced by this a few years ago that I bought a plant even though we not only had no pond with a marginal planting area, but our soil was actually very well drained and sandy! If ever there was an impulse buy, this was one.Clearly you have the perfect environment for it - I ended up creating a reservoir beneath it to keep a constant source of water - and it worked - though how it has gone now with the new owners, I don't know. Since then I have promised myself that one day I shall have a pond and I shall have a good place to plant Juncus spiralis.
What else?
See who else is growing Juncus effusus f. spiralis.
See who else has plants in genus Juncus.
