Oh dear! Think I'll be scrubbing them dry for a few more hours yet! 138 from 12 seed potatoes - I'm well-chuffed with our first real attempt at growing these! The smallest ones will be boiled as baby newbies, some will become cold salad potatoes or turn into potato salad, and will try some mash with the rest - definitely not a variety for chips/French fries (our kids hate these in any case).

Will definitely enjoy, folks! Don't know why our kids detest chips/French fries, even homemade ones, which I used to oven cook with just a drizzle of olive or sunflower oil. So I've completely given up with these at home, but don't really mind. I can incorporate more healthy stuff like mint and parsley from the garden into mashed potato in any case, which I can't do with the chips. They don't seem to mind spicy potato wedges, however, with a yummy dip (especially if I let them help make it).

Oh, dear, Marguerite, do you think we exported the "fish supper" to Australia along with emigrants, and the less desirable members of society, hehe? I Love your idea for parboiling then into the frying pan. Will do so soon and let you know the result. Yes, my homemade leek and potato soup is our kids' favourite. I try to make a large enough amount to last a few days, but it always disappears in one. Now here, we can actually buy kangaroo pies, and there is an ostrich farm not so far away. Ostrich meat can be bought at any of the local farmers' markets. Is this your revenge for the fish and chips, perhaps?

any way you slice 'em, any way you cook 'em, they are one of the most nourishing veg's in cultivation... mmmmm... carbs. I love shepherd's pie, one of my fav ways to eat 'taties'.

With extra potatoes one can boil and mash them as usual then make flat patties, place in freezer bags with a slice of onion (or not) on each and freeze them. To eat them put olive oil in a skillet, set the heat low and let them thaw then get hot all in one step. They taste just like freshly mashed.

Many Thanks, Doll. "Welcome to GOY". Have seen that you have also posted this as a blog in its own right. Thank You so much! Didn't grow potatoes in 2009, but am doing so this year, so will folllow your tasty instructions. I really like using olive oil in cooking :-))
