Thats lovely Shirley...I had a look at mine yesterday, the flowers are hidden by all the stems and leaves. Can I remove these so the buds can be seen?

Katarina ... as named in the title, also known as Lenten Rose, hope that helps.

Thanks Tt ... did you spot the freshly dug soil around it? I made the most of two dry days in a row and forked around some plants ... :o)

Hi Val, here is some info. from the RHS:

The subtle flowers are often hidden by the large leaves, so ensure they can be seen clearly by removing the old leaves on stemless types in late Winter or early Spring as the flower buds emerge.

Exposing flowers in this way will also help insects to pollinate the flowers and ensure good seed set for new plants to propagate from the resulting seed.

So, the answer is yes ... lol!

Thank you, Shirley. I noticed the gender name in the title, but thought it must have another name which helped to differentiate among H.o. Thank you.

Aw...feeling a bit wistful now Shirley. It's so pretty, and remember how many of these beauties I had in my old place....and not a single one here. Just two h. Niger that I bought before Christmas. However, I do have three on order from crocus! ;)
