Thanks Julia the flowers were picked and frozen in the cubes in the spring I'm afraid this photo isn't very great the ice cubes wouldn't stop revolving round inside the glass ! another idea is an ice bowl with flowers you have to put one bowl inside another with the water and flowers in between the bowls leave to freeze then take both bowls away leaving the ice bowl ...

Love the idea of making an ice bowl Amy . . . I suppose you have to use plastic bowls to go in the freezer?!

Some good ideas there, not sure I fancy Nasturtiums after they have been frozen for six months.

I used old Pyrex bowls Sheila but I don't see why plastic shouldn't work as well you need to have one bowl larger than the other try to position your flowers evenly between the bowls before adding the water , you don't have to eat them Brian they just look pretty , try also laying small flowers on a flat tray cover them with water and freeze it come out like a sheet of glass with flowers you can then stand your ice bowl on it .......

Aaaah, Amy! Why didnĀ“t you come with this idea in the summer? Lol. Certainly, it is a very good idea. Thank you. Will try to rememeber it till next summer.

P.S. Do you use it only as decoration or also to salads? :-)

kat you can practice using petals from any bunch of flowers you may have in the house or even herbs BTW I should have said it's better to freeze a layer of water in the base of the first bowl before putting the second bowl in otherwise the two bowls will 'touch ' I do use flowers for salad decoration but only the ones I know are eatable !

Thanks Amy: I'm not sure I have any Pyrex, just glass and Tupperware! But it's a great idea . . . and thanks for the detail :)

After all that work though , Amy , how quickly does it melt ?

I'm sure Tupperware would be fine Sheila , Julia I wondered when somebody would ask that ! it very much depends on how hot the room is it will last some time in normal temps ....

Angela this tablecloth has serviettes to match , not this one I might add but I have picked up a couple of pretty ones from charity shops people stopped bothering with nice table linen as being to much trouble to wash and iron and started throwing them out it's worth a peep when passing .. Thanks Karen thats kind of you to say so :o)

Thanks everyone I'm glad you like it , at long last Christmas is over our son and grandchildren left us on Sunday ,Phew it feels as though christmas went on forever ...as for our suffering with colds ! well enough said . A Happy New Year to you all x

Amy , I hope that you are both more relaxed now ; Christmas DID seem to last a very long time .
It used to be just Christmas Day and Boxing Day , then back to normal , with New Year's Day an ordinary working day , didn't it ?
I wonder which is better .
Get the Vitamin C and Echinacea out for those colds .

That's kind of you Julia we are getting there but not out of the woods yet ,we are recovering from the colds and to top it off my hip became inflamed I thought it was my back problem as the pains went down my leg ,I,m being treated for that and its less painful I may need an injection as well . All good wishes to you and your family for the new year x.
