Unexpected addition to my water plant container.

That is a great photo,Bernieh..A good deterrent for other Beasties in your pot..somehow I don't think it will catch on here ! I love the intricate markings on it. :o)

It is a remarkable looking thing, I agree, Bloomer. I'm hoping that the poor Water Lily in the pot can recover from the presence of this rather large Python.

I would say that there must be a food source for the Python around here at the moment. I had an inkling there might be one about as there haven't been as many frogs around lately!

Simbad, I have a feeling it's very comfy in the pot filled with water, although I never knew that Pythons loved water that much.

Janeplant, my heart certainly started racing a million miles an hour when I noticed it. I'm sure the neighbours could hear the few choice words that I exclaimed rather loudly!!

Drc, I think I possibly performed the best aerial acrobatice I've ever done in my entire life upon discovery of this lovely thing. I was off pretty darn quickly!

Lol and there was I thinking you so brave!!!! I still think you are really because I wouldn't sleep nights knowing he was lurking - especially as I always have my bedroom window open!!

Neellan, we have to have screens on our windows here because it would be a certainty that creepy crawlies would be making their way inside at night, or even during the day. I've had snakes inside the house because I've left doors open or forgot to close sliding screen doors.

Still you have all those lovely flowers, birds and friendlier wildlife to enjoy but a python.........! I'll hold on calling in for a coffee because I'm a wuss (I hope that means scaredy cat) it's an expression my cousin from Melbourne used in that context! lol x

You'll be glad to hear the python has moved on, Neellan. Of course I'm not sure where it has moved on to, lol!!! It must have gotten hungry and decided it was time for a meal.

I'm very glad to say I'm now able to access the hand-held hose, so my courtyard plants are looking a whole lot better after their first watering in over four days!!!

Phew relieved to hear that - I hope he doesn't surprise you with a return visit! I bet the plants were glad of a hose down too! Take care out there :o)

Neellan, I've only ever seen Scrub Pythons about three times in my life, and all three occasions occurred here at this property. It's a result of being so close to the bush. They are non-venomous but that doesn't really make me any less frightened when I do spot one close to the house. The one I saw previously, about eight years ago now, was close to 5 metres in length!

Lol, yes I think having no snakes is definitely a benefit.

I would have some choice words if I came across a python (which we don't have here) in my plant. We do have lots and lots of venomous rattlesnakes here, though (they're so extremely common that all hospitals have the anti-venom medicine in California).

Delonix, I did in fact have some choice words that I shouted quite loudly when I discovered what was literally just under my hand as I stretched to reach the watering can behind the water plant container. I'm sure the neighbours heard me loud and clear as well.

Balcony, thankfully the 5 metre long python was slithering across the top of the pergola structure over head, so we didn't get all that close to it. We did promptly turn around and walk back inside though!
