Oh...J...but thanks for warning me! This one is in a pot. I am trying ever so hard to look after my pots this year, but there are so many!!

Thanks Linda. The photo doesn't really show, but every leaf is backed in Burgundy Red. It's a really pretty foliage plant. Looks great with Heucheras.

This is one of three plants I bought from a GC in Inverness after we dropped Rachel and her little car off there today for her Induction day. The others were a beautiful Abelia and a smashing Alstro with black foliage. These three plants will always remind me of Rachel now, and how I felt leaving her so far away from home.....that's the lovely thing about plants isn't it...the associations you get with them.

Beautiful and lovely combination planting. :O) Rachel would love them. She will be fine up there. I know that feeling too well, my apron strings are having to stretch again. It is an awful feeling when you leave them but it does get better eventually. Last car load going up on Sunday so Sam should be able to settle in properly then. I am pleased you have not got another journey to make though it is such a long long drive for you. Tell her good luck from her Granny and Grandad, she will love it up there. :O)

It is along, long way...but we will certainly be going up there again...it is so beautiful! Scott really loved it too....I was pleasantly surprised! ;)

Surprise surprise, Scott must be getting old Karen. :O) I want the little cottage in the picture by the beach. I would love that, what a place to live. So remote and such fantastic scenery. Is the beach in walking distance for Rachel to enjoy? Do Tesco do deliveries up there? lol :O) oh my she is going to have a brilliant year. Everything is so different it will change her life. One thing it will make her get organised (if she isn't already), it is a huge challenge, having to think what she will need like fuel for her car and food for the fridge etc. Hope she doesn't run out of milk. lol. Hopefully she will have time to enjoy her surroundings, she will have to make time to visit the scenic places. First year is always a torrid time for teachers, but if she hacks it she will be so much stronger and a better teacher with all her experiences of life up there. :O) Good Luck Rachel. Enjoy!!

Yes, Tesco deliver three times a week Mum, but you have to book your slot early. The beach is a short drive away, there aren't any in walking distance. The castle is about 15-20mins walk from her house, across a footbridge over the river. That's a lovely walk. The nearest good beach is at Coldbackie, about 10 minute drive, and you park at the road and scramble down to the sand. The beaches to mentioned are at Melness and Talmine, which is a ten minute drive across the causeway...very easy to get to, and there is a fine restaurant there too. There are two shops in the village...Post office with a wee cafe, and a Spar with petrol pumps, so very well supplied really. There are two hotels with good bars and restaurants as well. It's a small, quiet but very friendly village with a nice atmosphere. The policeman lives just up the road, and there is a bank on the same street too. oh, and there is a good car mechanic in the village, a GP surgery as well. I think that's about it. I don't think she will really have any problems, she even has someone to cut her grass for her!
