Ferns Pictures of Elaeis guineensis
Ferns
Ferns I grow underneath the Elaeis guineensis ( African oil palm ). This palm has a trunk with sewn off branches ( fronds ) and a fibrous skin, on which the ferns can easily grow. Every time a branch comes down and turns brown you have to sew it off.

Amazing palm... what is it like to garden in the tropics? I sometimes wish we didn't have winter... (only sometimes!)

Thank you Scotkat for your appreciation. Lori, it is lovelu gardening in the topics, like an everlasting holiday. Of course there are times it is very humid and not everyone can stand that, but I do. I just love the heat. Soil is very good here and not hard digging.

Just checking out the colours and varieties of plants and their blossoms has made me appreciate the wonderful variety you have to choose from, and you have organically rich soil...sigh. I'm not especially good in the humidity and heat but imagine that might need a process of acclimatisation... well maybe some day I'll have a tropical holiday.
What else?
See who else is growing Elaeis guineensis (African Oil Palm).
See who else has plants in genus Elaeis.
