For Sheilabub Abies Koreana Bonsai.

For Sheilabub Abies Koreana Bonsai.

It needs to be re-potted as the foliage is going a little yellow, when do you do yours?

Brilliant one Dotty . . thank you!!

I started re-potting mine a week ago and still have a few to do; so "any time in Spring, but you've probably got a few slightly more urgent jobs right now, lol."

Mushy: they are not difficult to look after. Little trees need to be kept outside, kept watered from Spring to Autumn, fed occasionally, and pruned when the mood takes you. Dig up a tree seedling, confine its roots in a little pot, and see how you go :))

What type or will any tree seedling do ?

No worries Dotty . . . I'm sure it will be fine.

Mushyb - in the past I have tried 'just any', but not all seem suitable. I'm no expert, just an enthusiast, so if you HAVE tree seedlings in your garden there's nothing to lose if you give them a try. Possibly our native trees are best, but mine include Ash, Apple, Hawthorn, Eleagnus, Pine, and Beech (my favourite). Also Acer, but it is very slow growing, and I'm told Cotoneaster works well too. I've seen a bonsai Wisteria, but it looks out of proportion as the flowers grow almost to normal size. If you have several of the same type they can look good together in the same pot. Good luck!

Sheilla have you put any photographs on of your Bonsai, because I would be most interested to see them please.

Dotty - yes, there are a few. There's the one in my blog "Another day, another stroll . . . " on 18 May, when I was thrilled to see a flower on my "Magnolia" bonsai, lol, which turned out to be Euonymus. Several on blog same day "Bonsai for Howee 74"; and a couple of photos on pages 2 and 3 on my Photos (the Quince is now doing well . . . they seem to grow better when being ignored . . ).
