Great shot Lori! I never noticed the detail of these flowers before!

I love these. They look like a snowflake or like they were hand crocheted.

My grandaughter and I picked these and put them in different glasses of water and food coloring and the flowers turned the color of the water they were in ! Very neat. Queen Ann's Lace is also a host plant for Black Swallowtails but it can be very invasive.

Hi Buzzbee, I was taking a pic of the QAL with a clump of campanula and the huge metallic blue wasps kept buzzing in...could not get a pic of the flower without at least a fly or a bee on it...lol.
They have the most amazing almost triangular petals on the outer flowers...I love the umbel shape...do you have Hog Weed growing in the wild down your way, Grammazoo? It used to grow in the North...about eight feet tall with huge white umbels...birds just loved it. I found a plant in the back garden last spring...but it didn't come this year...I'm pretty sure it's biennial.
Seen some lovely doilies, Mike, nobody ever got close to the flower, in my opinion.. ain't nature great? Been watching for butterflies more closely since seeing your photos, Diohio. Hope they come to visit my QAL... it is very "invasive" but you have to admire it's strength and tenacity especially since it is so beautiful. it is a tap root so when I see it somewhere I don't want it I just seize it at the base of the stem and pull it straight up and out, also, when it blossoms I remove the umbel when it inverts. I didn't know that you could colour QAL...but I have coloured white mums...lol.
This photo is of "Queen Anne's Lace" in Lori's garden
